South
Dakota Pheasant Hunting Testimonials
"Thank you for the wonderful
hunting experiences over the past five years. I look
forward to the next five. By
the way, just because we have not booked past that, does
not mean you can fill our spot. The improvements you have
made are outstanding. The
game room was truly a surprise. Maureen's cooking is phenomenal. I
am not sure what is better, the cooking or the pheasant hunting. Regardless,
the meals add to the great experience. Finally, I would like
to thank you for taking care of those we have referred. It
is a very comforting feeling knowing we can send people your
way without any concerns. I look forward to hunting with
you in the near future.

me." Jackson W. Bogan Pheasant Forever

"Having hunted in South Dakota starting in the
mid 70's and growing up in the Midwest hunting all the
time, the experience of hunting at the Wagon Wheel Ranch
is as authentic as my first trip to South Dakota thirty
six years ago. From the rolling terrain and great cover
matched with great dogs/guides and lots of pheasants we
will be making our sixth consecutive trip this Fall to
hunt with Curt and Maureen at the Wagon Wheel Ranch" "Most
of all you have that feeling that you are going home to
hunt with your family" Robert Fox

"I stopped referring to Curt as "the guy who
runs the Wagon Wheel Ranch" or "the
guide I hunt pheasants with" and began calling him my friend on my second trip
to his ranch. That was seven trips ago. When anyone says that the people in
South Dakota are the salt of the earth and the nicest, friendliest people you'll
ever meet, they are talking about Curt, Maureen, Michael and the rest of their
staff. To say they run a first class pheasant hunting operation is simply saying
too little - from the shooting, to the accommodations, to the food, and the
atmosphere. The problem with the Wagon Wheel Ranch is that you go home with
a worn-out gun, sore ribs, and pants that don't fit anymore..too much good shooting,
too much laughing, and too much good food." Thanks! Mike Miccihie

"Each year I take a group of our District
Managers and VP's to South Dakota to pheasant hunt. Over
the last 12 years we have tried 3 separate Lodges but far
and away the best that we have found is The Wagon Wheel
Ranch which
is owned and operated by Curt and Maureen Geveshausen.
We have a group of 15 hunters [some better than others] and
we always stay at the Bird Dog Lounge which is
the Main Lodge at the ranch. The facilities are perfect
for our group, the hunting is the best that I have found
in South Dakota , and Curt and Maureen are just the perfect
hosts. By the way Maureen is a great cook ! I
am originally from Louisiana and she has "adopted" my
Gumbo recipe and some of my Cajun seasonings so she makes
us feel right at home when we are up there. Our trips to
the Wagon Wheel Ranch are filled with "full
limit of birds" day in the field, sitting around the
campfire enjoying a Bourbon and cigar with Curt, shooting
sporting clays, or just hanging out in the game room shooting
pool. All of my guys are from Louisiana and Mississippi and
the only fault that we can find with Curt is that he talks
a little funny!" JIM HILL

"To get to know Curt, you only need
to meet with and work with his dogs. At the Wagon Wheel
Ranch, Curt's dogs will leave you with a fond and memorable
impression. I know because I own two of Curt's Labrador
Retrievers, Red and Rudy. The obedience training, along
with the field training, has allowed our family to share
in a wonderful experience, as we have grown by two. It
still amazes me when I watch these wonderful hunting dogs
work and then they turn around and become the best of family
pets. Many thanks to you Curt. Four years ago I took two
friends with me to hunt for the first time in South Dakota.
This past season I completed three trips with thirty four
friends. Curt and Maureen have been wonderful hosts providing
a first class pheasant hunting experience. Everyone who
has joined me out here has begged to come back, often times
with a son or daughter or best friend. Most of my hunting
companions live and work in high stress environments. The
warm and gracious atmosphere in the lodge is only surpassed
by the outstanding meals served by Maureen. Our times spent
at the Wagon Wheel Ranch have allowed us to decompress and
share some outstanding hunting experiences. Although my hunting
in South Dakota has been limited to Curt, I can't imagine
any ranch offering the combination of phenomenal numbers
of birds and a very satisfying stay in the lodge. This is
a winning combination in our book!" David
